R.O.P.S - Rollover Protection Systems®
 

The R.O.P.S product has derived from several decades of roll cage fabrication design experience in the motorsport sector of Brown Davis Automotive. This expertise and knowledge has enabled the engineering team to produce a range of Rollover Protection Systems specifically suited for the use in mining and industrial vehicles requiring such rollover protection.

Unfortunately, rollover protection used to date from other manufacturers has left a large risk of serious outcomes, where designs fail to meet the basic need of internal occupant protection both in the event of rollover OR potential accidents around the site. Standard rollover bars located outside of the cabin simply do not provide the protection needed when it counts most. Furthermore, they pose serious pedestrian safety risks.

Below you can clearly see the dramatic outcome of a useless rollover system that does no more than merely hold driving lights. Although we are pleased to state the driver was able to walk away from this incident, it was surely a miracle.

Note below the rollover protection has done absolutely nothing to protect the internal cabin space during such an unfortunate, yet very realistic mining incident.

With this in mind, all Brown Davis R.O.P.S are designed as in cabin systems completely protecting the occupant space for all loads experienced during rollover. Each product is constructed from 350MPa Cold Drawn Seamless 44.5o.d. X 2.6mm wall tube and are MIG welded, creating a very strong and robust protection system able to withstand very high stress loads.
